Game Basics

On this website we would like to give you a some information about pets in Bounty Bay Online and how they work.

Generally speaking, every player in Bounty Bay Online can own one or more pets. This is only limited by the fact, that you need a special pet bait to tame pets. Pet bait for the different pets can be obtained by doing special quests.

To obtain a pet, you have to tame it first and not all monsters are tameable. Tameable monsters have a (tameable) tag in front of their name.

Players can own as many pets as they like. You can even own more than one pet of the same type.

How to tame and call a pet

If you want to own a pet, you need the corresponding pet bait for the pet’s class. Pet Bait can be obtained through special quests. If you have the correct pet bait for the pet that you want to tame, target the animal and right click on the food in your inventory. The taming process lasts for 60 to 90 seconds and while you are taming you should neither move nor attack the animal, even if it is attacking you (turn off auto counter-attack). After the time is up, the pet bait will be deleted from the inventory and will be replaced by a pet whistle. With this whistle, the player controls his pet.

IMPORTANT:: If the taming process is interrupted, regardless of what caused the interruption, the pet bait is lost and you will have to get new pet bait in order to try again. Because of this, you should make sure that you aren’t disturbed by other players or NPCs while taming.

With the help of the whistle, you can call your pet by right clicking on it. Right clicking again sends your pet away. If you have called your pet, you have to wait at least 60 seconds before you can send it away again.

Besides the option to change the name of your pet, the pet stats window shows detailed information about your pet.

If a pet fights, its master gets experience in the weapon skill he is currently using, e.g. if a player wields a sword he will get experience in sword fighting. The amount of experience the player gets from his/her pet is lower than when they personally fight.
